Silica Dust: How do we prevent
over exposures in industry?

Overview

This year's Fall Technical Session is focused on all things crystalline silica. The session will include presentations on the topics of sampling for respirable crystalline silica, managing the risks of exposure through H&S program development, assessing the hazard, engineering controls, and respiratory protection. We have a fantastic line-up of speakers representing a wide-range of experiences, perspectives, and industries (both mining and construction). This Technical Session is sure to deliver in terms of knowledgeable, useful, and insightful information. Don't delay, register today!

Speakers

Marc-Andre Lavoie, owner of Risk Marcker Inc., will speak about silica dust management in the mining sector. 
Ben Curren, our very own Treasurer, will present on his experiences sampling for respirable silica dust. 
Jonathan MacCallum with Levitt Safety will demonstrate new sampling technology for silica dust. 
Maria Parra, Engineer with Hilti, will give an overview of silica dust control in the construction industry and a hazard assessment tool.
Johannes Doemer, Occupational Hygienist with WorkSafeNB, will cover the topic of respiratory protection.

• Register for the session online at aiha-aps.ca or in-person at registration desk if using cheque or money order. Cheques can be made payable to the AIHA-APS.
• Cost for Member: $200, for CSSE Member: $220, for non-member: $250, and for student: $50.
