Speakers

Dr. James D. McGlothlin, MPH, Ph.D, CPE, FAIHA is a Professor Emeritus at Purdue University, and Professor of Epidemiology at Calvin College, Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Dr. Victoria H. Arrandale, Ph.D., ROH is a faculty member with the University of Toronto and Associate Director and Affiliated Scientist with the Occupational Cancer Research Centre – Cancer Care Ontario.

Details

Dr. McGlothlin’s talk will provide a human factors overview of the N95 in protecting health care workers (HCWs), including: 1). a basic framework of the United States federal government’s role of certifying and approving N95s for quality, performance, and safety; 2). N95 performance requirements to protect HCWs; 3). human performance attributes of N95, and 4). Comparison of the epidemiologic literature on the safety and efficacy of N95s versus the face mask to protect against the spread of SARS-CoV-2.

Dr. Arrandale will review the co-authored CSA research report that provides a summary of existing guidelines, scientific literature and expert opinion to support safer reopening and ongoing operation of workplaces during the COVID-19 pandemic to protect workers from SARS-CoV-2.
